Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has attributed the security challenges bedevilling Nigeria to unemployment among the teeming youths of the country. Governor Yero stated this at the official closing of the 34th Kaduna International Trade Fair, in Kaduna yesterday. He said it was in recognition of that fact that his administration had placed priority on security by procuring patrol vehicles and other necessary gadgets for security agencies to aid their logistics and operations.
According to Yero, "on our part as government, we have identified unemployment as the major factor bedevilling peace in the state. We have therefore resolved to create an atmosphere of peace and stability to encourage investors to make our state their preferred destinations. "In this regard, my administration has placed priority on security by procuring patrol vehicles and other necessary gadgets for security agencies, to aid in logistics and operations. We shall not relent in this regard until we create a genuinely peaceful environment, where people live in any part of the state without fear of intimidation."
While noting that the fair, which is an annual trade and investment showpiece, had no doubt carved a niche for itself in the history of Kaduna State, the governor urged participants that all ideas, business contacts and agreements reached during the fair should be translated into concrete actions that would promote and enhance accelerated global economic development that would positively touch on millions of lives across the globe. "It has become an established tradition for several captains of industries from around the world to meet here annually to discuss business, technological breakthrough and investment opportunities.
In this regard, I have no doubt that the 34th Kaduna International Trade Fair has been a huge success. "I therefore wish to use this opportunity to urge participants at the fair, especially states, local manufacturers and those engaged in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to explore experiences they have garnered from their participation at this international business meet.
I also appeal to participants from foreign countries to take up the challenge of becoming our ambassadors in your various countries, by helping to encourage investors to come and invest in Nigeria and specifically Kaduna State," Governor Yero said.
