Akon congratulated the East African nation's fourth president via Twitter - a social media platform both men are active on. The tweet said: 'Congratulations Uhuru Kenyatta on your new presidency. The world is proud of Kenya and its peaceful transition. This is big. I'm in Hong Kong and it's all over the news. I wish I could be there to Witness. AKON.” There was a backlash as opponents of Kenyatta slammed Akon’s wishes.
