Nollywood wedding scandal: Estranged wife shows up in church #GBB
By CHUKS EZE
The day had started like it was going to be full of fun and joy. The groom, a Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi, looked dapper in his suit and red bowtie while his bride, Uloma Frances Agwu, was resplendent but visibly pregnant in her wedding gown.
As the ‘couple’ waited yesterday, to be pronounced man and wife by the General Overseer of Overcomers Church World Outreach International, Aguda , Lagos, Rev Moses, an angry woman stormed the aisle, bringing the wedding ceremony to an abrupt halt. Time was 10.30am. The lady, identified as sister of the well-known actor’s wife came up with a long list of verbal allegations, and Akiyesi’s wedding to his pregnant ‘beau’ was stopped.
According to his sister-in-law who stormed the wedding venue with their wedding certificate, the actor and her sister, Lillian, had got married on November 25, 2011, in Port Harcourt. She said they got the information about the wedding on Friday night, disclosing that Lillian had called the new ‘wife’, Uloma Frances, and warned her to desist from making any further marriage arrangement with Solomon, and Uloma apologized.
She told the crowd that they were amazed to hear on Friday night that Uloma did not call off the arrangement, and was even set to wed yesterday. Sunday Sun also gathered that Lillian and her sister drove into the church premises in a Prado Jeep but she chose to remain inside the vehicle while the controversy lasted. Checks revealed that the certificate that her sister had bore, “Living Faith Church Worldwide Incorporated; No 4, Kaduna Street, Winners Way, D-Line Port Harcourt” address.
At the peak of the confusion, the bride was quickly taken out of the premises and Solomon later mounted the podium and apologized to the church and the guests. He said that his carelessness led to the unfortunate and embarrassing incident and that he had learnt his lessons. “I just want to say that I take responsibility for all that has happened. It’s my entire fault and I’m reaping the fruits of my carelessness today.
But my carelessness has taught me a big lesson in life and I must move on,” he said. Solomon, who looked embarrassed stressed that he would do everything possible and take every step to regain his happiness. Addressing the church members on the incident, the General Overseer of the church, Bishop Moses, said he would not have allowed the wedding if he knew that Solomon was formally married and did not properly divorce his former wife.
