The Ghanaian film industry has been referred to as both Ghollywood and Ghanawood, but more often than not; Ghanaian movies are put together with Nigerian ones indiscriminately titled Nollywood. This is with good reason as there is a lot of overlap. It is very common to see Ghanaian actors act in Nigerian films and vice versa. Popular actress Yvonne Nelson now spends so much time shooting in Nigeria that when asked by a fan on Instagram if she had picked out a Nigerian name yet, she replied “I’m now Yvonne Damilola Nelson.”
Yvonne Nelson is a Ghanaian actress that has added producing to her résumé. Her sophomore effort Single & Married is one of the most searched for Nollywood movies on the internet. It was nominated for 10 Ghana Movie Awards and won 4. Her debut film as a producer is called ‘The Price’ and has not yet been premiered. Yvonne stars in ‘Single & Married’ as a woman whose husband is a serial cheater, alongside Chris Attoh, Nadia Buari, Kofi Adjorlolo, Anita Erskine & afropop singers Efya & Itz Tifanny. Pascal Amanfo was the director.
